Batch #17 - Bottled 20th October 2022

Once a year we put aside a two small barrels of our best barrel strength Canefire rum.

Instead of cutting it down with water, as we do for our other Rums, we use a carefully selected blend of Port from the lush surrounds of the Swan Valley, Western Australia.

Small Batch, as the name suggests, is a limited batch of about 500 bottles per batch.

Each batch is blended down to a flat 40% ACL with a different combination of fortified to ensure each batch is truly unique.

Batch #17 Notes: 8 YR Rum, 8 YR aged Ruby Port.

Small Batch #17 is blended from 2 Hungarian oak barrels both seasoned with Margaret River Shiraz.

Hungarian oak is a much more dense oak so this year's Small Batch didn't sacrifice much to the angels.

It was chill filtered and then hand bottled with help from three generations of the family.

Perhaps because of the denseness of the wood Batch 17 is intense in flavour. A rich sweet cherry on the palette with lingering hints of dark chocolate.

Its going to be a satisfying winter warmer over a cube of ice in a wide glass.
